This not only saves you time but also reduces the cleanup, which is great if you’re a student with a busy schedule.

Possible Toppings for Your Miso Ramen

One of the joys of making your own miso ramen is the ability to customize it with your favorite toppings. Here are some popular options to take your quick and easy miso ramen to the next level:

  1. Sliced Green Onions: Fresh and vibrant, green onions add a burst of color and a mild oniony flavor to your ramen. Sprinkle them generously on top for a pop of freshness.
  2. Seaweed Sheets (Nori): Crumbled or whole, nori sheets provide a delightful oceanic flavor and a slightly crispy texture. They’re a classic choice for ramen toppings.
  3. Sliced Mushrooms: Whether you prefer shiitake, enoki, or button mushrooms, sautéed or fresh, mushrooms add an earthy richness that complements the savory broth.
  4. Corn Kernels: Sweet corn kernels add a touch of sweetness and a burst of color to your miso ramen. You can use canned or frozen corn for convenience.
  5. Sesame Seeds: Toasted sesame seeds not only add a nutty crunch but also a delightful aroma to your ramen. Simply sprinkle them over your bowl for that extra flavor dimension.
  6. Bean Sprouts: Fresh and crunchy bean sprouts provide a textural contrast to the soft noodles and enrich the overall experience of your ramen.
  7. Bamboo Shoots: Sliced bamboo shoots (menma) are a classic ramen topping that offers a unique, slightly crunchy texture and a subtle earthy flavor.
  8. Pickled Ginger: For a zesty kick, consider adding a few slices of pickled ginger to your ramen. It’s a great way to introduce a tangy element to your dish.
  9. Sesame Oil: A drizzle of sesame oil right before serving can enhance the overall aroma and flavor of your miso ramen. Use it sparingly, as a little goes a long way.
  10. Extra Soft-Boiled Eggs: If you’re an egg lover, adding an extra soft-boiled egg halves the fun. The rich, runny yolk blends beautifully with the broth of the miso ramen.

Enhance Your Broth for Maximum Flavor

While our base recipe is already incredibly tasty, there are several ingredients you can add to the broth to make it even more flavorful. Here are some options to consider:

  1. Ginger: Add a few slices of fresh ginger to the broth as it simmers. Ginger infuses the broth with a delightful, slightly spicy aroma that complements the miso’s richness.
  2. Kombu: Kombu is a type of dried seaweed that adds a subtle oceanic flavor to the broth. Simply simmer a small piece of kombu in the broth for a few minutes, then remove it before adding the noodles.
  3. Sesame Oil: A drizzle of toasted sesame oil just before serving can elevate the overall aroma and flavor of your miso ramen. It brings a nutty, savory note that pairs wonderfully with the miso.
  4. Bonito Flakes (Katsuobushi): For a deeper umami taste, consider adding a small handful of bonito flakes to the broth. They’re rich in smoky, fishy flavor and can be strained out before serving.
  5. Mirin: A splash of mirin, a sweet rice wine, can balance the saltiness of the soy sauce and add a touch of sweetness to the broth. A tablespoon or two should suffice.
  6. Sake: Sake, a Japanese rice wine, adds complexity to the broth. Just like mirin, a small amount will do the trick. It’s especially nice when combined with mirin.
  7. Red Miso Paste: If you prefer a stronger miso flavor, consider using red miso paste instead of white miso. Red miso is aged longer and has a more robust, savory taste.

By adding these ingredients to your broth, you can customize the flavor to your liking and create a truly restaurant-quality miso ramen experience right in your own kitchen.

Ingredients for the Best Miso Ramen

  • 1 clove Garlic (Minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 cups Low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 Packets of noodles
  • 1 pinch Chili flakes
  • 1 cup Broccoli florets
  • 2 Eggs (Soft boiled)
  • 1 teaspoon White miso paste

Instructions for Making the Best Miso Ramen Noodles

1. Sauté Garlic

Begin by heating a small amount of oil in a pan. Once it’s hot, add your minced garlic and sauté it for about a minute until it becomes fragrant. This step is crucial for infusing that delightful garlic flavor into your ramen.

2. Add Chili Flakes, Soy Sauce, and Chicken Broth

Next, add your chili flakes and soy sauce to the pan. Quickly follow this up with the low-sodium chicken broth. The combination of soy sauce and chili flakes will give your miso ramen a wonderful umami and spicy kick.

3. Bring to a Boil and Add Noodles

Bring the broth to a boil and add the noodles. You’ll only need to cook them for about 3 minutes. This makes sure they’re perfectly tender and soak up all the delicious flavors of the broth.

4. Turn Off the Heat and Add Miso Paste

Turn off the heat and in a separate cup, mix the white miso paste with a few tablespoons of the hot broth. This step helps to dissolve the miso paste evenly and prevents lumps. Once well mixed, add it back into the broth for that signature miso flavor.

5. Assemble Your Miso Ramen

Now, it’s time to put together your quick and easy miso ramen. Divide the noodles and the flavorful broth evenly into serving bowls. Top each bowl with broccoli florets and a soft-boiled egg. Of course, you can customize your toppings to your liking – some other great options include sliced green onions, seaweed, or sliced mushrooms.

6. Enjoy Your Delicious Miso Ramen!

Your homemade miso ramen noodles are ready to devour! The combination of rich, savory broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and your choice of toppings makes this dish a winner. It’s the best miso ramen you can have without spending hours in the kitchen.
